On Friday, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, who is also the finance minister, announced that Indian army was well prepared to respond properly to any kind of ceasefire violation on border. Jaitley recently visited the Line of Control, after which he said that any kind of infiltration bid could be countered by the Indian forces.

According to him, the case of the Army purportedly having fastened a man to a jeep front in the form of a human shield is already being investigated. However, the Army wanted to save lives of both the voters and the protesters.

Jaitley insisted that the priority at the time was to ensure normalcy again. People’s wishes could not be fulfilled sans peace in the state. He concluded, “Our priority is to bring development to Jammu and Kashmir. Let nobody be jealous about such happenings. There are examples when an entry is made in the name of economic development to establish military bases.”
