Following a viral message on WhatsApp about an alegged misconduct of DCP against a Delhi Traffic Inspector, A vigilance enquiry was started. The traffic inspector filed a complaint against the Deputy Commissioner and vice-versa.
Karamvir Singh, the traffic inspector alleged that the DCP abused his power and slapped the inspector not once but multiple times. Mathur Verma, DCP, filed a complaint as well for a departmental enquiry against the traffic inspector, Karamvir Singh.
Karamvir Singh was on his duty at Tughlaq Road Circle on Sunday when he stopped a Punjab registered SUV which caused a traffic jam by driving on the wrong side of the road. The inspector questioned the driver who is said to be one Rohit, about his conduct. Rohit told the inspector that he is the driver of DCP Madhur Verma. Rohit also threatened and abused the policeman according to the complaint.
The incident took place around 9:15 pm. The Inspector said that he received a call from DCP traffic asking him to DCP Madhur Verma. Karamvir Singh did as directed and upon calling him, Verma asked Karamvir to report at the police station around 11 pm. On reaching the police station, the DCP allegedly snatched his mobile and thrashed him while also detaining him unlawfully. Karamvir also alleged that the CCTV footage of the incidence was deleted.
The DCP has filed a counter complaint about misbehaving with the Delhi Police staff and said that the story is cooked up.

A vigilance enquiry has been set up to bring the facts to light.
