Sadness is sometimes all we can see in the eyes of a widow of a martyred. This is not true for Gauri Mahadik. Gauri lost her husband in 2017 to a fire accident near Indo-China border. Following the demise of her husband Gauri decided that staying strong is not all that she needs to do, she decided to step into the shoes of her husband and give him a tribute.

Gauri, a lawyer, and a company secretary resigned from her job and started studying for the Service Selection Board. She cleared the exam in her second attempt and emerged as a topper.

Gauri will join the Indian Army after finishing her 49-week training at Officers Training Academy. She will join the Army as a lieutenant in March 2020.

Gauri further said that her husband always wanted to see her happy and this is what makes her happy. She also said that she will be wearing her husbands uniform and that it belongs to both of them collectively.
