Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the plea seeking a stay on the release of PM Modi biopic. Court also opposed Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s claim that the film’s release during the election period violated the Model Code of Conduct, saying that it was for the Election Commission of India to decide that.
The bench said that it could pass an order if the petitioner, Congress activist Aman Panwar, brings on record the reasons for his objection to the film.
However, Aman Panwar said in his plea, that the movie is driven by no artistic inspiration but created in order to manipulate and impress the audience in the upcoming elections.
However, now that SC refused to put a stay on the release of the PM Modi biopic, the film is scheduled to release on 11th April 2019. Sandip Singh, one of the producers of the biopic took to Twitter to thank judiciary and to announce the release date.
