NEW DELHI: Several coaches of the Puri-Haridwar-Kalinga Utkal Express derailed in Muzaffarnagar’s Khatauli on Saturday.
20 dead and 34 injured in the train derailment in UP, rescue ops underway. Eyewitnesses say there is no electricity at the accident site, which is hampering relief operations.
“An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident. Strict action will be taken against any lapse,” railway minister Suresh Prabhu said.
“Medical vans have been rushed to the site. All efforts are being taken to ensure speedy relief and rescue operations,” Prabhu tweeted from his official handle.
